WHAT'S A MOVER?

    It may be best said that a Movement Practice (a deliberately vague term) is an approach to physical training in which one opens oneself up to embrace the entire range of human kinetic possibilities and actively adventures out to learn more. We may therefore define, a mover as a Generalist. 

    In order for an idea to be conceived, uttered or comprehended, it must possess the quality of finitude. Thus, the concept of movement as a whole, in its widest sense, which implies illmitation and non-specificity, is difficult, if not impossible to communicate. Statements such as these are not meant to be unnecessarily abstruse, but to elucidate the ethos of a certain training paradigm. In physical practice, as in linguistics, movement is learned through a system of isolating and delving into the contents of [exploring inside the limited parameters of] more or less rigorously defined finite units or elements to further understanding.

    The soul of movement practice is a state of confusion, of feeling far away from home, and the exhilaration of being lost
     
     Always in the process of preparing their bodies for movement, the fitness person stops at the threshold, whereas a Mover steps through the door. A mover moves. He “drives his car” to use Ido’s analogy  ***
